GPPnet is a project promoted and managed by the Provincia di Cremona
and partially supported by the European Commission under grant LIFE02ENV/IT/000023.
Every year public authority spending across the EU comes to over
1,000 billion Euro, 14% of EU GDP. The money goes on a wide range
of products and services from PCs and pencils to hospitals and bridges.
If that public money began to be directed towards environmentally
preferable products and services, the impact on issues such as climate
change and waste would be considerable.
Many local and central government authorities are keen to take action
on the greening of their procurement policies, and the Provincia
di Cremona is among them: through the GPPnet project it aims at
improving Local Administrations’ awareness of Green Public
Procurement and to foster green purchasing.
The site describes the objectives, phases and achievements of the
project.
